DPSA Paeditrician Specialist– Grade 1, 2 Or 3 Job Description

REQUIREMENTS : Appropriate qualification as Medical Specialist in pediatrics, which allows
registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Proof of current HPCSA registration for April 2022/March 2023. Receipt of
current registration with HPCSA. Good leadership skills, excellent
communication (verbal and written) skills, conflict resolution and good
interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be adaptable, disciplined
and self-confident. The candidate must be able to work independently and
under pressure. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

DUTIES : Supervising the management of and managing neonatal patients and
coordinate any services required for patient care. To provide clinical care/
services in the Neonatal unit (including inpatients and outpatients services). To
provide clinical care/ services in general pediatrics as determined by the
department of Pediatrics. Supervising the management of children in Pediatric
ICU, casualty and outpatient services. To participate and assist in teaching/
training of both undergraduates and postgraduates. Attend meetings and
training as approved by Head of Unit. Comply with the Performance
Management and Development System (contracting, quarterly or semester
reviews and final assessment)
